VPI and VCI

Virtual Path Identifier and Virtual Channel Identifier

Much in the way Frame Relay uses DLCI's to assign identifiers to each link of the PVC - ATM uses two iudentifiers, VPI and VCI to label these virtual links.

Some customers request specific VPI or VCI numbers.  The following table lists the allowable rages of those identifiers for Marconi ASX-4000 access circuits:
