Smartnet vs Smartnet Onsite – Maintenance
Smartnet is now broken into six different categories:
Smartnet:
Smartnet
Smartnet Premium
Smartnet Enhanced
Smartnet Onsite:
OnSite Standard
On-site Enhanced
OnSIte Premium
The Catalog lists one line that says “Smartnet Onsite”, and then after that, all product descriptions are simply called “On-site Standard”, “On-site Enhanced”, and “On-site Premium”. For all "on-site" maintenance - they drop the word “Smartnet” – and this word is also dropped in the dynamic configurator. Attached is the Cisco PDF file that describes the differences. It has a nice decision flowchart to help with deciding which Smartnet is the one to choose.
Example
I did a 3745 BOM (the 3725 has had a lot of customer complaints and issues), and noticed this in the configurator:
Product Product Description Price
On-Site Enhanced for 3700 Series Products
CON-OSE-3745 8x5x4 Onsite Svc, Cisco3745 4 slot Appl.Svs Rtr $2,887
The 8x5x4 is the most common option selected - however, 8x5x4 means they only support maintenance 8 hours per day, 5 days a week (with 4 hour MTTR). The 24x7 option is in the product catalog :
Product Product Description Price
On-Site Premium for 3700 Series Products
CON-OPE-3745 24x7x4 Onsite Svc, Cisco3745 4 slot Appl.Svs Rtr $3,149
NOTE: notice that the word "Smartnet" does not appear.
