Switch Topologies

There are endless topologies, but typically, a hub with Ethernet workstations (10 Mbps) is cabled to a switch port, and servers are directly cabled to the switch using Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps).  Switches, if directly connected, use the 100 Mbps ports.  The port can then be configured statically to allow the MAC addresses of attached stations, or dynamically as frames are received.
