Status Bar keeps Vanishing - the Fix

The "status bar" is a small area on the bottom of a Window, such as IE or Explorer - where information about a folder or a drive appears. Many users complain that the status bar vanishes after they enable it. Here's a way to make that status bar stay put and appear in all folders:

  1. Right click on the Start menu and click the Explore command.
  2. In the Windows Explorer, click the View menu and then click the Status Bar command.
  3. Click the Tools menu and then click the Folder Options command.
  4. In the Folder Options dialog box, click on the View tab.
  5. Click on the Apply to All Folders button
  6. Click Yes in the dialog box that informs you that the changes will occur the next time you open other folders.
  7. Click OK in the Folder Options dialog box.
  8. Open the My Documents folder. Notice the status bar? It'll be in all your folders now.

NOTE:  I have personally had mixed results with this fix - it does not always work !!
