FrontPage Server Extensions
These "extensions" are used by both the client and web server. If you use FrontPage to create and edit your own website, then the server you publish to will also need to have server FP Extensions loaded (most do - but not all - ask you Host Service).
Publishing via FTP - even if you have FP Extensions loaded on your PC and your provider does not on their server, you can still publish, but you will need to do it via FTP. Ask your host service for the FTP address for your website (for example:ftp.domain-name.com or ftp://ftp.domain-name.com ), and in Frontpage, simply enter that for the publish address instead of an HTTP (web) address.
To determine which version of Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions is installed on your computer:
1. On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, and then click Search.
2. In the Search Results pane, click All files and folders under Search Companion.
3. In the All or part of the file name box, type fp4awel.dll and then click Search.
• If you do have fp4awel.dll, then you have FrontPage Server Extensions 2000 installed on your computer.
• If you do not have fp4awel.dll, then continue to the next step.
4. In the All or part of the file name box, type fp5awel.dll and then click Search.
• If you do have fp5awel.dll, then you have either FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 or SharePoint Team Services.
• Continue to the next step to determine which one you have.
5. On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, click All Programs, and then point to Administrative Tools.
• If Microsoft SharePoint Administrator is listed as an option, then you have SharePoint Team Services installed.
• If Microsoft SharePoint Administrator is not listed, then you have FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 installed.
